For the second year in a row, the OSCE's Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) has organized a summer school on criminal-justice issues in Central Asia.
During the recent closed meeting in Bishkek, the representatives of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) member-states agreed on the list of international religious-extremist organizations whose activity will be banned on the territory of the SCO.
Turkey has taken another step in improving relations with Central Asian countries by implementing a unilateral visa exemption policy for the citizens of Azerbaijan, Mongolia, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan.
This year, the citizens of all countries of the CIS and Baltic are eligible to apply to Russian educational institutions and present their diplomas without the need to go through the cumbersome procedure of confirmation of equivalence.
Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Karim Masimov left Tashkent for Samarkand on 27 July. There he is to visit historical sites, and meet local authorities.
